As A Creator You Secretly Learn More Than 21 Top Skills
Productivize your skills to earn more
An average writer doesn’t earn (enough).
You need to be more than a writer to succeed in this trade.
Skills I Learned Being A Creator
They say one must acquire skills than collecting degrees. In childhood, no one taught this so I got my degree as a civil engineer. I chose a comfortable path.
Later, I realized the seriousness of becoming skillful. So, I started learning one of the top skills — Writing.
Both the professions are complementary — Left brain + Right brain
But, both of them aren’t enough.
No one hires fresher engineers and no one reads average writers.
I needed to find something that pays. So, I assigned myself a fresh role — Content Creator.
It is the latest profession. Nothing is exact here. The industry is not defined. A career here is uncertain.
The best thing about entering a novel industry is the first-mover advantage. If you get to the top, you define the rules. You decide how much amount to charge for your skills. This does not happen in old established industries.
You need to play within the boundaries in the established industries. The money you can earn is already known. Think of being Data Scientist. No one will pay you more than the market price. Competition does not let you demand AS YOU WISH.
Now, think of being a content creator. If, in case, someone like me gets a badge of top influencer. I can charge a high price for my services No Limits To Getting Rich.
This advantage however lasts for a short time. Once the competition stiffens, you lose the privilege.
But, you still earn better.
Winning the creator economy game is not easy nowadays. The industry is already experiencing an exodus of inflow.
To win the game now, one needs to be more than disciplined.
Along with discipline, here are the skills that I learned being a creator:

Stay Updated
Nothing will work if you swim the wrong river.
Content creation does not come with a degree. You need to learn yourself. Make yourself comfortable with reading.
Develop a learning attitude.
Think of Medium, YouTube, and Twitter as your universities. There are a lot of professors — Young and old.
The best thing about being a creator is freedom. You are not restricted to doing one thing. You have the liberty to experiment and charter your own path. It is like living an alternate life — Total serendipity.
WBU Money? — Productivize Your Skills
Currently, I am reading a phenomenal book — How Will You Measure Your Life. In the third chapter of his book, Author Clayton Christensen talks about The Balance of Calculation and Serendipity.
He states: Every strategy is a process. It evolves.
You start your career with a fixed mindset. You are conditioned to start like this. You are trained in school to think success as linear. So,decide a fixed career and plan linearly. In the business world it is called Deliberate strategy.
Deliberate strategy is what you decide to begin your business. Say, you decide to become a doctor.
Once you set off on your defined career path, you learn and evolve.
You learn from anecdotes. You connect the dots. Suppose you realize that you are not meant to become a doctor. You are inclined to something else. Say YouTube. Call this an Emergent Strategy.
Emergent strategy is something that you discover while in the process. So, in our case, you found YouTube to be a lucrative career. As you also have the resources and skills to carry forward with your emergent strategy, you have a choice. Whether you should think of continuing with the deliberate strategy or whether to switch to an emergent strategy.
Most of the times, it is the lucrative option that each one goes for.
Now, once you set off to this new path. You learn and understand the game. You realize that you are not only a YouTuber but a content creator as well. So, you launch multiple products and become a serial entrepreneur.
The author says that strategy should be kept evolving.
Businesses are dynamic entities. You don’t know when the demand for your product/services will decline. You need to be ready with the next HOT thing to keep the company running or growing.
Same is the case with solo entrepreneurs.
You need to decide where you should put your resources (PRIORITIES).
Let’s think this in terms of content creation:
You have honed more than 21 skills.
Now, once you get clarity with what you want to do, your serendipitous Creator profession will fight for resources.
You have to decide which path to choose — Whether you should remain a content creator or pick one of the skills you learned and productivize it by creating a product around it.
People like us need to find new ways to sustain. Mere writing or any single skills can become a hurdle for progress.
Fortunately, being a creator, you get plenty of options to monetize.
Teach what you learned till you find your next emergent strategy.
