5 simple and repeatable steps…

The “Article-a-Day Method” provides a great system for building your list community. Let’s dive right in:

Step 1: Create an Article

Create your 300 word article for the day. You can go with “3 Mistakes” “3 Secrets” or simply tell a story. You can check my article idea vault for 21 article ideas you can use.

Step 2: Call to Action

You want to have a Call to Action in every article you publish. You can place it at the end of the article or any other place that makes since (see the one above). Here you want to invite your reader to take their next success steps with you by trading their email address for their next success steps from you.

Step 3: Lead Magnet

A lead magnet is also called a freebie, give-away, etc. It’s simply something of value you give your reader in exchange for their email address. Two the easiest ways to create a lead magnet are:

  1. Offer a downloadable PDF version of the article so your reader can have a copy and take notes right on the PDF.
  2. Add a few “Action Questions” to the end of the article. To be clear, the lead magnet is the action questions version of your article. Examples of Action Questions include: * “Which tip stood out to you the most?” * “What’s your plan to get started?” * Etc.

Most people stop after these 3 steps. They got a new person on their list and that’s it!

Don’t be most people, because:

Ste 4: Follow Up

Follow up can be as simple as automatic welcome emails sent when someone subscribes. You can also send broadcast emails with new info, etc. Other forms of follow up include asking and answering questions, providing free webinars and livecasts, and providing next success step offers.

Step 5: List Community Care & Feeding

Once at an internet marketing conference someone said to me:

“I don’t know how long this is going to last, so I want to extract every penny I can from my list.”

I grabbed my laptop and unsubscribed.

It’s important to think of your list as I do mine, as a list community, full of live hearts and live heads. They are looking to you for their next success steps. Lead them, help them, serve them.

When you take great care of your list community, your list community will take great care of you!
