Art Tales Submission Guidelines
Updated 25/10/2021
Hi and welcome to my new baby!
Art is in the eye of the beholder. There are different forms of art and I am excited to start this new pub with a focus on art.
You don’t need to be an artist, you can be an amateur or art appreciator. All artsy fartsies are welcome! ❤
What I’m looking for are well written drafts with a focus on visual art or inspired by a certain piece of art. This could be photography, comic art, architecture, design, crafts, henna drawing…the list goes on and on. It can be your own material, world-renown artists, your child’s, someone you know. Art is all around us, you don’t need to look far.
Before you submit your work, please have a look at the guidelines below. Thank you in advance :-)
Submission guidelines
1) How to submit your work. If you are already a writer with Art Tales, and you have been on Medium for a while then you know how this works. For newbies on Medium, have a look at this: add your draft to a publication. Once you’re done, you will hear from us within 24 — 48 hours.
2) Edit and revise your work before sending us your draft. This really goes without saying, but I have seen many submissions that look like they’ve never met Mr. Grammarly before. We all make mistakes and it won’t hurt to run your article through an editing programme before submitting.
N.B.: We don’t do line editing. We may suggest some changes in structure, format, or minor grammatical mistakes.
3). Use good quality and properly attributed images. You can find many masterpieces on the WikiMedia Commons website. For all other images, make sure they are royalty-free with proper image credits.
If the images/art are yours, mention this in the caption box. Please make sure to write the Alt description of your images.
4) Genres of writing nonfiction, fiction, and poetry, but all with a focus on your chosen art piece.
N.B.: Pieces about religion, sex, gender issues and politics will not be accepted.
5) Use appropriate tags for your article. This will help readers find your story. Our main tags are “Art” “Art Tales” you can add anything else to these.
6) Selling your art. I encourage artists to sell their own art. You still need to write an interesting piece to go with it. Think of the history of your products, cultural background, and the media you're using.
7) Affiliate links and CTAs. Affiliate links are only accepted if they are art-related products. Keep the CTA simple with just one line at the very bottom of your article.
If you give me a pinkie promise in the response box, along with your Medium handle, and what you would like to contribute, I will add you and see you on the other side ;-)
