I don’t know about you, but I’m getting sick and tired of seeing all of these “How to make $1000 per month on Medium” articles. Every morning I open up Medium on my iPhone or laptop and there it is. Another one of these unrealistic, “clickbait” articles.
While it is possible to make this amount and there are a few writers who are proving this to be true, the majority of us will never reach these heights. For those who do, it will take several months or longer to generate this type of income consistently per month.
Don’t waste your time reading these articles. Especially those written by people with less than 100 followers. Now, of course, there are many brilliant writers on this platform, and when those people speak, you should listen. However, most of these articles about how to make $1000/month are not written by the top writers.
Instead of reading these types of articles, spend your time writing quality work. Comment on articles that speak to you. Feedback is important to writers on Medium because it lets them know how the reader feels about the article. It’s also important for the reader to leave comments because that can lead to engagement with others, which can lead to new followers.
It’s important to read as many articles as possible. Reading helps you formulate new ideas for your writing, and it also allows you to adopt some strategies from other writers. What images to use and how to format your article are a couple of these strategies that can be learned from reading other articles.
Many of us hope to have the kind of success that will help us earn $1000+/month. We just have to be realistic about how to make it happen. This type of success won’t come overnight. It also will not happen without hard work.
Before you see these kinds of results, it’s paramount that you get a decent following. The best way to get followers on Medium is by writing quality articles.
The other thing you have to do is write… a lot! Writing 1 article per week is probably not going to get the job done. You need to find a niche that works for you and stick with it.
When starting, it’s fine to see what niche you are most comfortable writing about and what gets the best engagement from readers. After that, stick to what works best for you.
