Are You the Star of Your Life?

Learn the actor’s secret to manifesting your dreams

Are you the star of your story? The lead actor in this movie, this play we call life?

Think about it carefully — are you?

Or are you the supporting actor, yielding the stage when the moment becomes too great?

You should be the star, right? After all, it is. your life.

So why aren’t you?

It’s not because of fate, dumb luck, or blind chance. And it’s not a matter of intelligence or inherent talent.

The answer to the question lies in the secret of the great actor.

The truth is, you are the star. Cast in the leading role, ready to give your breakout performance.

But your star will only rise with the proper guidance.

The Chameleon

Back in my Bill Maher/Ricky Gervais-inspired atheist days, I was a huge fan of Adam Carolla, the comedian/ radio personality and one-time MTV “star”.

I would listen to his daily podcast on my 40-minute commute, soaking up or cynicism and sarcastic wit. (at double-speed no less, in my never-ending quest for efficiency!)

One point Carolla made repeatedly was of his disdain, or at least disrespect, for the craft of acting.

His theory was that great actors became so because there was nothing real there. They are empty shells, possessed of an inner void that needs to be filled. No real personality.

Essentially a chameleon. Blending into its environment, adopting whatever characteristics it needs to survive.

But as I’ve progressed in my spiritual and personal development, I’ve come to realize the error in this way of thinking.

It is no accident that the greatest actors are where they are. Good looks and stellar genetics aside, they possess a secret.

A secret that is so powerful that it will transform your life just as easily — If you learn how to harness it and apply it properly.

A Change in Perspective

My thinking on actors was changed permanently by reading “Greenlights” by Matthew McConaughey.

A prime example used by Carolla, McConaughey was held up as just a pretty face, getting his roles with his charm and good looks, but lacking any real substance.

But to my utter surprise, what I found in his book was an absolutely inspiring, riveting, and often hilarious tale of determination, overcoming of obstacles, relentless self-belief, and the power of an overwhelming will to succeed.

It gave me so much respect for the profession. For the people who are led to do it. And for the will it takes to make that dream a reality.

The Secret to Manifestation

The future must become the present for the person who would willfully and consciously create these circumstances

This is the secret talent of the actor. This is why they are such power metaphysicians, manifesting exactly what they want in life.

Every day, they are practicing this skill. And as the skill is further developed, and further refined, it plays an ever-growing role in their life. They see themselves as the great actor. They act in the way of the great actor.

And — little by little, they become the great actor.

Thought becomes matter.

Word becomes form.

The comedian Jim Carey famously put this into practice in creating his enormously successful acting career.

He wrote a check to himself for Ten Million dollars, adding the note “For acting services rendered”.

That he went out and made that his reality. He brought the future into the present until it took form in the present.

Becoming the Star of Your Life

Shakespeare said:

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.”

A lot of people hear these words and become disheartened. Thinking that their role is small. Their contribution trivial.

But this is so wrong.

It is true that you are a player on a stage.

But you are also the playwright! Writing the script that will become the story of your life.

And you are free to write it in any way you want.

Think of yourself as a method actor, placing yourself in the place of the role.

Write out that character in detail. Give it depth and substance. Make it the star. The hero of the journey.

The one everyone loves and desires to be.

Act as if you were in that role. feel yourself as that person. Imagine it being real — as real as the hairs on the back of your hand. As real as the heat from the sunlight. As real as the touch of a lover’s kiss.

You are the actor, giving the performance of your life. Like George C Scott in Patton. Brando in Streetcar, DeNiro in Taxi Driver, Meryl Streep in — well, anything!

Put yourself in that role, and do it with gusto, with flair, and with raw emotion.

Make the audience sit at the edge of their seats — imagining what will come next. What adventures lay in store? What excitement will this day bring?

That is the story we are all “dying” to see.
