Are You Taking Advantage of Reviving Your Former Stories?
Read and see how these two publications help get new eyes on old stories.

Did you know there are some interesting publications out there that may be able to help, when it comes to getting new eyes on your older stories? Well there are, and I’m here to tell you about two of them.
It doesn’t matter if you write fiction or non-fiction. You can write poetry and short stories, or strictly personal essays and experiences about the life lessons you’ve learned.
Whatever the stories are, you shouldn’t be so quick to give up on them, just because they didn’t get recognition when they were first published.
So note these two publications and consider whether you have any stories submit to them.
Just Like New Publication
Just Like New is a publication I created myself. Personally, I hate the idea of my stories sitting on a shelf like an unopened item that someone hopes will have value someday.
Maybe it will, and maybe it won’t but wouldn’t it be better if you could try and get some value out of it now? That is what I’m hoping will happen to the stories that choose to migrate to my Just Like New publication.
Just as I mention in the story I wrote, requesting submissions:
“The primary objective of this publication is to help you gain exposure and hopefully readers for the stories you work so hard to create.”
Although I’m welcoming all stories, writers must have a realistic attitude about their submissions.
This is a new publication with basically no current following, so anything you publish has a low chance of visibility, but probably no lower than what it already has, and possibly even a higher one.
There’s nothing to lose, and hopefully something to gain.
Illumination Curated Publication
Illumination Curated is another publication you will definitely want to submit your previously published stories to, but only if your stories qualify.
Similar to my Just Like New publication, Illumination Curated allows you to submit a variety of story themes and category topics.
But there is one particular requirement. Your story has to have been selected for further distribution by Medium. Yep, your story needs to have been curated.
Before you scoff, let me share a bit of news with you about curation. But first, let me tell you what to do about Illumination Curated.
You need to go request to submit stories, like you normally do when petitioning to a publication. Then wait for them to add you as a writer. It may take a day or two, but be patient.
Now, back to this issue of curation. A lot of writers have not come to realize that getting curated is not all that it’s made out to be, at least not in every single instance.
Some readers are even wondering: “Why would a story need help from a publication if the story was curated by Medium?”
This is what writers who have never been curated say, or who don’t realize they have had stories curated by Medium.
It’s a sad but fact, some stories get selected for further distribution, but only remain on the front page for a hot minute; nowhere near long enough to make a difference to their stats.
I speak from experience, because I’ve had tons of stories curated. In fact, I most of the time, I didn’t even realize it, until I learned how and where to check.
This is why the Illumination Curated publication is another great opportunity to give your stories another chance at success.
Unlike my little rinky dink publication, this one happens to be run by a really savvy Medium Member, who also operates 4 other successful publications.
So don’t underestimate the potential to get more eyes on your older stories. Take a chance and submit them here.
To find which of your stories may be eligible to submit to Illumination Curated, go to your Stats page, and click “View Details” and it will tell you at the top of the page, whether the story was “selected for further distribution” — aka: curated.
If you find one that was previously curated, you can submit it to the publication, once you see your name show up under “writer” status in your list of publications.
By the way, there’s one more really great thing about this publication. You can submit up to 3 of your previously curated stories at a time. HOW COOL IS THAT?
