Are You Still Trapped In Your Comfort Zone?

If you are always living in your comfort zone then right now you’re a caterpillar.

As a caterpillar you’ve been living life on the ground, getting around in your local neighbourhood, trying out the local cuisine, playing it small, and having small adventures. You’ve learnt all you need to survive and you know how to avoid the local danger zones. Life’s good. Or is it?

You know there’s a big wide world out there and lots to see and do. But you’re just not sure it’s for you. After all, you’re a caterpillar and whoever heard of a caterpillar making it big?

Nobody has caterpillars printed on their Tshirts or pictures of them on their wall. Let’s face it caterpillars are just the bottom of the food chain.

The truth is you’re scared to change. You don’t want to leave the old you and everything you know behind. You’re in your comfort zone and you’re not really sure you can make it as a butterfly.

Just thinking about becoming a butterfly makes you nervous. It’s a big challenge and you feel worried about even getting started. There are so many things to do!

First, you’ve got to fatten up and get yourself in peak shape ready to start the change to a new improved version of yourself. You’ve got to eat more of the good foods, prepare your mind for the new adventure and find a safe supportive environment to start your journey.

Then you’ve got to make a commitment to changing physically and mentally. It’s a big commitment. It’s 100% commitment. Anything less and it will be a disaster. You might end up with just 1 wing instead of 2.

Nope, you definitely have to go all-in otherwise that’s it, game over before you have even started.

Once you make the commitment you’ve got to take massive action and build your cocoon.

You need a safe, protected place where you can start the process of change. But it’s scary because you’re going to have to burn all your bridges to your old life.

Then when you’ve hidden away from the outside world, wrapped in your cocoon there’s a moment of darkness and uncertainty. It’s just you and only you. For the first time in your life, you are alone in the darkness.

It’s a time when only blind faith will save you a time when you will have to surrender and trust in the process.

For a short time, you can still escape from your cocoon but you won't be the same as you were when you first entered. You will have changed, your brain will have shifted, you will have experienced something new and unsettling.

In reality, once you enter the cocoon there is no going back you can only go forward. You’ve reached the point of no return where you need to dedicate your time and energy to fully focus on becoming a butterfly.

It’s a time when you need to set your intention, stop fighting, stop resisting, surrender and trust in the process.

One day you wake up and you’re a different you. Same same but different. You look different, you feel different but your journey hasn’t ended yet. You still haven’t reached the summit. There’s one more hurdle you must overcome.

You must be born again as the new you.

The last part of the journey is the most difficult but it’s crucial. It’s like fighting your way to the summit. You can see the peak but you’re tired, weak and vulnerable. But you must push on and break through the last remaining barriers to complete your transformation.

As you fight your way out of the nice safe cocoon you have created and emerge into the world you will be at your most vulnerable, like a child once again.

If you give up you will die, if someone helps you and eases you from the cocoon you will die as your wings won't have been activated properly. Only you can complete the transformation.

It has to be done the hard way. There are no shortcuts.

It’s like climbing a mountain; you do it one step at a time but YOU have to do it no one else can do it for you and taking a helicopter ride to the summit is nice and will give you a mind-blowing experience but it won't transform you in the same way as climbing the mountain yourself.

As you take time to push your way out you are vulnerable to attack from predators. You can’t fly away because you haven’t fully emerged. You can’t go back inside the cocoon because now you’re too big for it and you don’t fit in that world anymore.

Your only real option is to push as hard as you can as fast as you can and get yourself flying because once you start to fly the whole world will change for you.

Yep, change is meant to be a challenge and yes if you want to change you have to commit 100%. Once you take the first steps, commit 100%, face your challenges and make it happen.
