Are You Living As Your Best Self?

You can start today!

We all have a best self.

However, we may not have defined it yet, and therefore are not yet living it. If we don’t own it, we will find it easy to stray far from who we can be at our best.

Take ownership of your life by defining, owning, and living the best version of yourself.

Lesson to Learn

We decide how we will show up each day.

Do you know who you want to be today?

Taking the time to determine how you will act and what you will do when you offer your best self is critical. We intuitively know when we are our best selves.

When this happens, we need to identify it and learn from these moments. They can better help us define when we are at our best in the future. Likewise, it helps us understand who we want to be and how we can act differently when we fall short. This, too, is valuable insight.

Daily, we can navigate toward being our best selves despite what is going on all around us.

Answer for Me

The last two years have given me new insight into how I live as my best self.

The stresses of life during a pandemic and an economic downturn are significant — for me and many others. A crisis can quickly turn us into survivors.

Being our best selves in these circumstances can be very difficult. However, if we learn to not only survive but thrive during times of crisis, we develop new skills to add to the best version of ourselves.

Crisis response is very valuable as a leader, team member, and member of our families and communities. I have seen myself and others grow in this regard during the last two years.

I learned a lot about myself during this crisis. I learned from my mistakes and my successes.

I also witnessed leaders who demonstrated extraordinary responses needed to help others be successful.

These lessons learned have helped me grow. I find myself calmer. I am more centered, emphatic, kind, and grateful than at any other time in my leadership journey. I would not wish crisis on anyone, but they offer us an opportunity to grow into a better us.

My best self has been expanded, and I have a new standard that gives me hope for the future.

Action

Learn daily from your experiences.

Be kind in your evaluation of yourself as you learn how to live as your best self.

What traits do you want to display daily? How are you living your best self? What do you want to keep, and what do you want to change?

We usually know when we are our best selves.

Ask a close friend, coach, or mentor to help you verify your best self’s qualities, traits, and actions.

Live into this way of life. As you grow, it will give you confidence and success.

See setbacks as temporary whenever possible. Adjust to permanent changes, always looking for a way to be your best self.

Daily Habits

Our best self is a daily work of art.

We live into it and develop it by thinking and acting each day.

When we can identify when we are at our best, we can navigate toward it, experience it, and improve upon it each day.

We can develop new skills and tools to help us become this person and be this person more often than not. Successful individuals find productive ways to live in a way that demonstrates their best self.

Celebrate when you do.

Adjust as you learn. And enjoy the journey!
