Summary

The article reflects on the importance of staying calm and finding learning opportunities in the face of accidents and unexpected events, using personal anecdotes to illustrate the point.

Abstract

The narrative begins with a rhetorical question about agility and swiftness, setting the stage for a discussion on handling unexpected mishaps. It recounts a story where a neighbor's son, eager to assist, ends up dropping a special dish and cookies, leading to a moment of disappointment but also a teaching opportunity. The author then shares a personal tale of spilling milk in the kitchen, which turned into a lesson on maintaining composure during accidents, thanks to the intervention of their spirit guide, Seth. The article emphasizes the importance of resilience, the acceptance of imperfections, and the value of humor and positive thinking in dealing with life's disasters. It concludes with advice to take breaks and relax during busy times, like the holiday season, to navigate through stress smoothly.

Are You Fast on Your Feet?

Oh, happy accident

Created by the Author in Microsoft Designer with the text prompt: A young man leaves his house’s front door, dropping a bowl full of salad on the ground. The salad goes everywhere in an oil painting style

Disaster strikes all the time. If you are tired and try to push yourself, sometimes you stumble where, if you were alert and with the program, you would be able to move about without getting your feet tangled.

I say this because the other day, our neighbor and her son were going to a gathering with friends. My neighbor spent some time preparing a dish for the pot-luck dinner. It wasn’t something she had made before, so she spent whatever extra time was needed to prepare it and make sure it would be special enough for the gathering.

As they were leaving the house, as their Lyft ride was waiting outside for them, the son, who had insisted on carrying not only the special dish but also a container of cookies so his mother could lock their front door, dropped everything. The dish shattered. Roasted cauliflower went everywhere, and the offering was ruined. They took cookies to the party.

My friend had argued with her son that he did not have to hold onto both items, but he had insisted. So, where in all of that was the lesson?

The first lesson is to allow stuff to happen. To not be surprised when shit happens and to recover from it easily. He did not, though his mother was fine with it. It was a teaching moment, and I hope he will learn whatever he needs from the accident.

Here’s an example of a disaster from my own life as a psychic channel. In the early days of my channeling, I dropped a full carton of milk as I was getting it out of the refrigerator. It was like a bomb had gone off. Milk went everywhere. At least broken glass was not involved.

I was so upset with myself. Not only did milk go everywhere so did my anger and colorful choices of bad words. Lots of them. As I took a breath to recover, my spirit guide, Seth, said, “Oh, happy accident.” If he weren’t already dead, I would have wanted to kill him. Psychic humor. So, the happy part about that accident is that the entire kitchen floor was cleaned. The cabinets got cleaned. I couldn’t reach the ceiling, so I never knew if milk got that far. But I got a reminder to move smoothly through the tough times. They pass just as quickly as the good times do.

I try to look on the positive side. My guide was just leading me through a teaching moment. It was also one of the first times I experienced spirit guide humor.

So, if you find that you are pushing yourself this busy holiday season, please take time out occasionally, even if it is only for 15 minutes, to have a cup of tea and relax a little bit.

Thanks for reading.
