We live in times that can bring us down. It can be grinding and feel joyless.

It’s the start of a new day. Does it feel fresh and new?

If we are honest with ourselves, it often does not.

Why is it we tend to love Fridays more than Mondays?

It’s time to look at how we enter our new days and weeks. Otherwise, we may miss the most obvious opportunities right in front of us.

Lesson to Learn

We can tell a lot about how we are navigating our lives by how we feel.

I am not saying that every moment needs to feel joyful and productive.

However, if our weeks are doom and gloom and lack passion and excitement, it makes for a seemingly long week.

And, it may be the push we need to examine how we are going about our days and what we can do today to change that.

There is no moment like the present to find a reason to be happy.

It doesn’t have to be grand, but it does need to happen. Only we can do that.

Answer for Me

I try to be a realist. However, that can get pretty depressing during a pandemic and economic downturn.

I can even feel guilty if I take a break and feel good for a moment. However, that is the ticket to getting rundown and becoming ineffective.

I used to work hard and play hard when I was young. Now, I seek to work smart and pace myself.

I need to spend some moments talking about the important stuff — like family, friends, and what I love about life.

If you want to have influence and make a difference to those who need you to do so, you can’t become numb.

Action

When you face challenges, you must meet the challenge with an appropriate set of answers for the moment.

Running hard all the time is acceptable for machines, but not for humans.

There is a reason we are called human beings and not human doings.

We can’t get our entire worth from what we do. Sure, it pays the bills and is important, however it is not all of your life.

You can’t lead or serve well when you don’t even want to be at the meeting or event.

Take time to smile, do nothing, go for a leisurely walk, talk with a friend.

Daily Habits

See each day as a new set of opportunities and start each week with renewed hope.

Put moments of rest into your day.

Select a few key priorities. Work to accomplish at least one of them — no matter how small.

Make time for uplifting conversation and just hanging out.

Monitor your pace throughout the day.

Reflect on your day to learn. However, be gentle on yourself.

You will likely get another chance at it tomorrow.
