Are You Eupeptic?
A Poem About This Interesting Word

“Are you eupeptic?” I heard her say I really wasn’t quite sure I started to check all my buttons and zippers I wondered if there was a cure
Could there be something wrong? Was there food on my face? Had I said something foolish? Or had I disgraced myself or my friends in our social affair? I hope that I did not cause them to stare
That’s when she assured me, it was really okay The word she had used to describe me that day Eupeptic, although it sounds just like it’s septic Is actually a word that is truly aseptic
“You know. Are you happy, or in good spirits?” she said Ah, well in this case, that’s me, put a star on my head Eupeptic is definitely a word for myself Being mostly good-natured, just like an elf Would be, I assume, as I’ve never met one But most of the books describe elves that are fun
Although now that I think on it, some elves are bad The Lord of the Rings has a few that are sad Or melancholy and in some cases quite mean Not very eupeptic, or happy it seems
But now that I know that this word is in fact A word that describes, “Are you happy as that?” I’ll start to enjoy it as one of my words And no longer think that it’s just as absurd As Tohubohu, a word I have seen In my daily vocab word email just last week
