Are You Afraid Of Breaking Eggs?
Life is amazing if you are not afraid to take chances
You will need to break eggs to make an omelet.
I love omelets and what goes into them. Mine tend to be loaded with so many good things that the eggs barely contain them.
We are living in uncertain times where we will make mistakes.
We will fall short, we will fail, and we will need to learn from these experiences.
Apologize when necessary. Move forward with a new understanding.
When the world hands us a reset, we need to try new things so we can restart.
This involves falling short.
Lesson to Learn
I must allow myself and others the opportunity to “break some eggs.”
Try new things and approach this crisis with an open mind.
When we were learning to walk, we fell a lot.
Now we are learning to walk again in a radically changing economy while fighting against a global pandemic.
We will make plenty of mistakes.
Just don’t let them paralyze you and your team.
Answer for Me
I must let go of trying to get it right the first time.
I must understand that the old answers may no longer apply.
Allowing myself and others to experiment and learn while not getting it all correct on the first attempt is a good thing.
It requires humility.
It requires being human — and acknowledging none of us have all the answers.
Say “I don’t know” more often — and say it out loud so others can also admit they are in a new territory where our old maps may not be very useful.
Action:
Begin to act like the world is new territory.
When I break eggs due to our new situations or the stress of the moment, apologize.
Learn new things quickly.
Don’t get too caught up on getting it right the first time.
Enjoy the omelets!
Daily Habit
Begin each day anew.
Learn from each day.
Go small with your experiments — but go fast.
Try new things that appear right for the moment.
Listen to others as they live into new experiences.
Don’t get caught up in trying to be right.
