Are we working our old people too hard?

Things must be a lot worse in the UK economy than our politicians are owning up to. Although we need as many people at work as possible to aid the recovery, surely men, who have passed the age of retirement, should be allowed to step down and take things easy.

But reports have appeared in the national press of an elderly gentleman being asked to step up to the plate and take on more work and responsibilities.

Now this is not a small enterprise, but a major position that will involve much travelling, much of it to foreign lands.

Fortunately, this gentleman has had some previous experience of this work, but at the ripe old age of 74, when most men have retired, are we asking too much from this man?

As the gentleman in question has been named in the national press, I feel free to name him here.

Charles Philip Arthur George Mountbatten Windsor.

King Charles 111.
