Are We Witnesses to Destruction

Or Participants in Change?

We are witnessing the destruction of our country

our planet

our mother

when did it start when does it stop

there is hope there still is hope

the situation is grim not hopeless not yet

but

it will be soon if we continue to sit back and idly watch

waiting for someone else to do the work the hard work

we can use our power take back our country our planet our mother

don’t just sit and witness the rebirth

let your actions make it happen

don’t just sit and witness the return of happiness, health and peace

let your actions make it happen

we have the power to stop the destruction

we have the power to make tomorrow better

we have the power

now we need to use it

I truly believe there is hope for our country. I’m optimistic that everyday people will speak truth to power. Write your Senators and your State Representatives. The time has past when we can let others do the work for us. We all need to get involved. This poem isn’t just directed at others, I’m talking to myself, too. This is a call to action for all of us. Read, watch, learn. And vote, it’s the least we can do.
