Are The U.S. COVID Numbers Actually Much Worse?
How are they counting the cases?
Vaccines are highly recommended
The numbers of COVID cases keep going up in the United States. There are more cases being detected now of the omicron variant. People who have been vaccinated are also getting COVID although many of the cases seem to be mild.
Chantal Da Silva, Joe Murphy, and Berkeley Lovelace Jr. had an article for NBC News which had the title: “U.S. reports record 1.3M Covid cases in a day as hospitalizations soar.” They stated:
The United States reported 1.34 million Covid cases on Monday, according to an NBC News tally, with the daily case rate shattering global records as hospitalizations soared across the country.
At least 1,343,167 new Covid infections were identified Monday, according to the tally, beating the previous record of 1,044,970 cases, set on Jan. 3, by nearly 300,000.
These numbers are staggering. Everyone expected that the COVID pandemic would be over and gone by now. Instead, it has lasted for nearly two years. The case counts keep going up.
As more and more people are doing home testing now, one wonders if the numbers could be accurate. Although people with positive test results may be asked to report those numbers, many must not be known to authorities. If symptoms are mild like a cold or flu and a doctor’s care is not required, it is likely that there will be no reports of the positive home test results.
Hospitalizations from COVID are also on the rise, but those numbers are monitored by health care officials.
The numbers of actual cases of people contracting COVID may be difficult to access.
There seems to be no end in sight for the COVID pandemic in the immediate future. Everyone will be happy when the pandemic comes to an end.
