April Writing Prompt at Age of Empathy: Play
Time to set your playful self free

Typically, I like to come up with prompts that are relevant to the time of year, be that seasonal or defined by annual celebrations.
As I mused on the month of April and what that represents to me, I pictured spring flowers dancing in brisk April breezes and sunshine. I pictured children spending their afternoons at the park and playing on sports fields through the school days and weekends.
The lengthening days here in the UK offer us evenings of late sunshine (she says hopefully) to be enjoying finally, stretching out our time to let loose and relax. After a winter of being cooped up inside this new sense of outdoor freedom certainly stimulates my playful side.
The overall theme that jumps out at me is one of playfulness.
So, for this month’s theme, we are taking the word “Play” and letting that inspire some creativity, a story or three, or simply an exploration of play in our own worlds.
Perhaps your inner child has rediscovered the art of play. Perhaps you’ve found a new joy through playing with your own children. Or perhaps you’re reminded of the joy of learning to play a new sport.
Whatever it inspires in you, let’s make April a super playful month here at Age of Empathy!
Please use the topic/tag “Play” when submitting your responses to this prompt.
And… Ready, set, GO!
