EARTH DAY
April 22nd, 2020
It’s time we gave the planet prominence

Global heating, wildlife extinction, and pollution have been demanding our attention, urgently, for a good many years now. We have played deaf. We have played blind. We have been reckless and foolish. And naughty kids that we are, we’ve been needing a kick in the butt and now we got it.
Are we ready to do something about global heating, wildlife extinction, and pollution now?
Are we ready to give the challenge of biodiversity and the climate crises our attention once and for all?
I say yes, we are.
It is embarrassing really, that we needed to be brought down on our knees to get here, but now we are here and ready. As soon as restrictions are lifted we will be ready to give of ourselves, to give our planet the attention, priority, and importance over everything else that Earth has been begging of us.
And what a perfect time for us to say to this. Today, April 22nd, 2020 is Earth Day and our Earth’s fiftieth anniversary at that. Long enough time for shenanigans like playing deaf and blind.
“The nexus between nature, climate, and sustainable development was embodied in 2020. The year offered hope.” -Richard Deverell of The Guardian.
Countries all over the world had big plans for celebrating.
But…
But today we, the world citizens, are grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be no gatherings for public celebrations.
Changed plans, notwithstanding, we cannot afford to lose focus or momentum. And we should try to support the ambitions of COP15 and COP26 and help to bring them to fruition in 2021, our future.
“We should not let the momentum of what had been hailed as a “super year” for the environment be lost. Now is a time when the health of the planet and its people has never been so important. We are in an age of extinction and at the point where irreversible environmental damage could be wrought.” — Richard Deverell, director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
If you happen to feel somehow ill-prepared, for the big task at hand, please allow me to point you here, where I release you from all guilt of being careless with Mother Earth and together honor a vow to do all we can to protect her.
Let’s be more aware and reverent of our beautiful life and the life that sustains it.
This is my prayer for us. Tikkun Olam. This is how we help our world to heal.
HAPPY EARTH DAY, MOTHER EARTH HAPPY AWAKENING, MY FELLOW EARTH CITIZENS
I Wish Us All Miracles
