Appreciation For My Kitchen
How to find joy in cooking

“I think preparing food and feeding people brings nourishment not only to our bodies but to our spirits. Feeding people is a way of loving them, in the same way, that feeding ourselves is a way of honoring our own createdness and fragility.” ― Shauna Niequist
Every workday, I have a joyful stopping point. I step away from my laptop and into the kitchen. It is always my realm of peace.
Even though it takes more time, I enjoy cooking from scratch.
Right now, life is hectic, with writing all day on various projects. Yet, when I start to cook, I gain more energy. I appreciate my kitchen for giving me a space to create food for those I love.
At this moment, my kitchen is a bit messy, with a tray of roasted vegetables on the counter, a pot of soup on the stove, a cookbook laying open, and bread loaves rising.
I appreciate this very moment in my kitchen. It feels perfect as it is.
I love all the storage space, the plants in the garden window, and the handy tools within reach.
It is the small things that bring us the most joy.
