Anyone Else Need a Break From The Same Old Routine?

Maybe it’s time to try something new

I love that quote. As adults, we often get stuck in a set routine which leads to us feeling like we’re just going through the motions rather than truly living.

Sometimes, it’s necessary. We might need a monotonous routine that simply gets us through the day.

But there usually comes a point, when we need more and it’s important to recognise that time when it arrives.

When I’m feeling bored, like really, really, bored, it’s usually a good indicator that I need some sort of change in my life.

It could be something life-changing, like a new job or a new house but these things often take time and whilst waiting, it’s easy to feel more and more dissatisfied in your current every-day.

So, in the meantime, making small changes could help boost your mood. Personally, I know that doing something that I deem productive will help bring me out a set routine.

It’s annoying at times, because it means I have to push myself and find motivation, and that usually imposes on my TV/Netflix binging time.

I try to set myself new goals (such as, figure out how to write a screenplay) and once the initial slog of mustering up the motivation has been achieved, I usually find I’m actually enjoying doing something new. Even if goes nowhere, at least it got me out of my routine, right?

I’ve found connection is a good way to get you out of a set routine too. Going to a concert, the theatre or just being around people in any way possible, can sometimes simply make you stop, look around and escape your own mind.

It’s easy to feel stuck in the same every-day schedule. You get used to a routine and you forget to try new things and experience more of life.

This is as much a reminder for me as it is for anyone else that it’s important to try something new once in a while and mix it up. You only live once. And there’s a lot of life to live.
