Experiences of a writer and editor
I have an interesting story to tell all the readers and writers. I have been lucky beyond my expectations, in dealing with Medium Help Centre.
My advice to everybody on this platform is “Ask for help and you will immediately be rewarded.”
I will relate two specific experiences:
The first one relates to me specifically as a writer.
I suddenly stopped receiving emails from Medium and for one whole week, there was nothing at all. We are so used to receiving emails stating the fact that ‘your story has 10 fans’. The glee of this notification for new writers is so great and so important.
I also received no comments from people and also did not know whether my story was published or not.
I would open my profile page and there it was my story had been published. There were also some comments to which I had of course not responded as I did not see them.
Note my disappointment! I was sad. Other fellow writers also said that they had the same problem. One of the writers I follow Caroline de Braganza also had the same problem.
Then I found out that the people who were on Gmail were the sufferers.
I did have Gmail! I looked at Google and found that Medium had a Help Centre. I did not know how good it was but I decided to try it.
I put in a complaint at the Help Centre! Immediately, I received a Do not reply response through email, with a ticket number which said we have noted your complaint but look at the FAQ’s and see if your complaint can be sorted out from there.
The next day I started receiving emails. Medium Help Centre had responded and sorted it out. I was all smiles again.
Today I had an experience as an editor of Illumination
I was recently appointed by Dr Mehmet Yildiz as an editor on Illumination Mirror and Technology Hits.
Today, he appointed me as an editor on Illumination as well. There were many editors on leave and to keep the readers happy, Some of the new editors were brought in to help Illumination, as it has 50,000 readers and so many submissions of stories every day.
I had just about cleared Technology Hits and Illumination Mirror and went on to work on Illumination stories.
I edited and published 15 stories on Illumination and I received a notification that I had crossed the limit as I had reached my limit for the day and was not permitted to publish any more.
Dr Mehmet Yildiz suggested that I should request the Help Centre as lots of stories had been submitted and the queue was enormous.
I was a little dubious and hesitatingly, I did contact the Medium Help Centre and he also did so stating that he had given me full rights to work as an editor and why after a few stories I had not been allowed to publish.
Lo Behold ! I am in full appreciation of the Medium Help Centre. Within 15 minutes I had been restored the rights of an editor and I worked the whole day and am still on the job.
The takeaways:
#1. The medium Help Centre is very supportive. Do not hesitate to ask for help if you are in need.
#2. The Help Centre is very prompt. You immediately receive a message that they have noted your complaint.
#3. The complaints are sorted out quickly and that is what the writers and editors would like in case of any problem faced by them.
Finally,
I am totally in appreciation of the Medium Help centre today and I am sharing my writer and editor experience with the readers. Do put in your complaints and you will recieve a reply promptly.
