Anti-LGBTQ Vandalism Near Me. Why Do They Hate Us So Much?
It’s depressing and defeating how much they hate us.
Someone spray painted anti-LGBTQ+ slurs and misspelled Bible references across a rainbow crosswalk in Warman, Saskatchewan, Canada:
I live in Regina, SK, less than 3 hours from Warman by Highway 11. It kinda feels like this is very close to home for me.
I tend to feel safe. I work for a pro-LGBTQ+ employer and I attend an inclusive church. I’ve never felt threatened in my circles.
But a story like this reminds me that Canada is not immune from the anti-LGBTQ+ hatred boiling south of the border. There are bigots everywhere, and they really really hate us.
I truly cannot understand why they hate us so much. To hear them talk, you would think LGBTQ+ people are going to destroy the world. I don’t know about anyone else, but I want to save the world. I do my best to recycle what I can and I drive a hybrid. I’m a Christian who tries to love others and follow the Golden Rule to treat others how I would like to be treated.
It is depressing and hopeless to be hated for something about yourself that you cannot change. As if I was hated for having red hair or blue eyes.
There is no good reason to hate someone for being LGBTQ+. None at all.
Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
