Another Stat Post on my For You Page?
My thoughts on stat posts

If you have been on Medium for longer than 24 hours, chances are you’ve come across a stat post. A stat post is what it sounds like, someone sharing their stats. It usually consists of their views, reads, posts, email subscribers, followers, and earnings.
Now I understand that the volume of stat posts is high on Medium at the moment, and will be tomorrow, technically today, as it’s a new month. A time to reflect on the past month and analyze the stats.
But I ask you one thing, dear Medium reader. Don’t get angry when you see a stat post. I am a big advocate of the idea that once you publish something it’s no longer for you, it’s for your reader. That isn’t always the case though, I know many people, myself included, who post their stats because they want to document it. I am able to go back to my stat post that showed my first two weeks of Medium because I documented it.
While it may be frustrating seeing stat posts, you have the simple option of not clicking it, no? Or, alternatively, you can grip the keyboard firmly and let your blood pressure rise. Please remember though:
Where there are stats, there will be stat posts. — Albert Einstein… probably
Simply ignoring these posts will benefit you in many ways, mainly the sides of your keyboard won’t look like a sand castle that the beefy kid just fell into.
Yes, people are going to post their stats. You can choose how to react to it, just like in any situation. We can’t always control what happens, but we can control how we react. Remember that Medium is a platform for everyone, and people can use it how they like. This means you can complain about stat posts, I’m not going to stop you! I feel like you could probably put that time to better use though.
Also, shameless plug, I will be posting my stats for February tomorrow, again technically today, the 1st of March! (Pay close attention here keyboard grippers):
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, if not, then feel free to not view that post.
