Another Perfect Day

Similar to others, yet completely one of a kind

What are we adding to that wooden coffer with our initials carved on the side? —the lid always open for more.

We consume these days as quickly as they are given They have a shelf life, cannot be saved for tomorrow And we’ve been around long enough to know That restocking has its limits.

Putting in as much as these bodies will allow Withdrawing multifaceted treasures shaped by the senses — nonstop! And all that spending comes back with interest —memories.

Today, another perfect day. Ingredients: Similar to others, yet completely one of a kind Sun, always best for those daytime slow tracking shots —save the rain for evenings and streetlight reflections. Observations on the city, pointing up at architecture —inspections of people who walk past (because there’s walking, always walking.) Considerations of the latest news stories — solutions if we were king. Opinions on the whole catalog, the carnival —the entire cabaret, ol chum.

Lets take a subway and read books on the way (because there’s reading, always reading) —tell me about yours and I’ll read you from mine.

Into the darkness of a movie theater (how did smelly/noisy popcorn become the snack of choice?) the silhouettes of heads, all eyes on the magic light. Perhaps some of them are also in the process —of a perfect day.

Over a slice of perfect pizza (only Joe’s on a day like today) Your eyes suggest that I’m special As mine confirm about you. We’ll address the files of imperfect realities — another time another place. The bills, the doctor appointments, the jobs, the toilet that needs to get fixed. They can sit on a bench in the park for now —and not intrude on this perfect day.
