Okay, so my subtitle is a bit on the silly side, but that’s because I still don’t have a clue why the Gumroad creator chose a name like that.

Regardless of my pitiful pun, or whatever the reason for the name; Gumroad is a place where all types of creatives can implement ways to make their skills pay off.

The popularity of making money online at Gumroad is increasing day-by-day.

Before I tell you about what I discovered, when I put my own product on sale, let me tell you just a little bit about how this awesome site came about.

Whether you’re only just now hearing about this resource site, or you already know about it; it might surprise you to know that Gumroad has actually been around for well over a decade.

If writers on Medium or anywhere else online want a place to sell their digital products, why wouldn’t they go to one of the best e-commerce platforms on the internet?

That’s exactly what Gumroad professes to be, and apparently writers, designers, and all types of creatives agree.

From what I’ve seen myself, the platform is super user-friendly. Most people find it really simple to use, and getting started on it is a breeze.

By now, you’re probably wondering who the genius behind this powerful e-commerce website is, and what’s his story.

Who is Sahil Lavingia and what did he create?

The man responsible for one of the hottest places to sell your digital products online, is Sahil Lavingia.

Sahil Lavingia is Gumroad’s founder. According to him, the idea for Gumroad began springing to life in 2011 on a Friday night.

Basically, Lavingia had a digital source file he was wanting to sell online, but couldn’t believe how difficult it was.

He stated how ultimately, he ended up creating the site because:

“To my surprise, there was no easy way to quickly sell digital products on the internet.”

As we all know, most great ideas typically are born out of necessity.

That’s what happened with Gumroad. The way that it’s brilliant founder put it:

Twelve years later, the website is thriving and off the charts. What’s even better, is that Gumroad is responsible for helping other creatives soar as well.

If these kind of figures don’t start the creative wheels in your head to turning, I don’t know what will.
