30 Day Poetry Challenge — Day 4

Another Grand Metamorphosis

A journey of undoing, being, and becoming

My course was set, Or so I thought, Until I was reminded, I don’t control all.

I wasn’t scared, Though angry sometimes, At a system where age Weighs heavier than skill.

But then I realized, There could be another way, Where life could be better, And a whole lot simpler.

I’m on that journey now, Decreasing stuff, Simplifying, Decluttering, Home and brain.

A few rooms, Is more than plenty for me, With the freedom to do, Those things I planned for tomorrow.

Why wait? Why worry? Why live in misery, And spend years of useless toil, When so much good can be found?

My new profession is explorer, Of all the good things, places, and people, The causes that matter, The time to read a book.

When it gets down to it, Shouldn’t that be how we choose to celebrate Something as magnificent As this great gift of life?

God speaks sometimes, And others think it is to break us, But we realize the time has come For another grand metamorphosis.

Kim McKinney is indeed in a period of change. Some of it is delightful, and other parts of it beyond difficult. Mostly, though, she believes she is evolving into the woman she needs to be for this next phase of her life. Let’s hope she doesn’t screw it up.
