# Summary

Jade, a writer working on her novel, is terrorized by an anonymous online stalker who has been watching her for months and demands she pass a test to be left alone.

# Abstract

The narrative follows Jade, a writer engrossed in completing the final chapter of her novel, who is unexpectedly interrupted by a series of unsettling anonymous messages and notifications. As she tries to resume her work, she is confronted with evidence that she is being watched through her computer's camera. The stalker, who knows her name and personal habits, demands that she engage with him to avoid further harassment. Despite her attempts to disconnect and destroy the camera, the stalker's presence persists, leading to a climax where Jade's reality and fears blur into a nightmare. Ultimately, she wakes up from what seems to be a dream, realizing she has a deadline to meet, and decides to rewrite her novel, titling it "Anonymous."

# Opinions

- The story conveys a deep sense of paranoia and vulnerability associated with digital privacy and the potential for cyberstalking.
- It reflects on the intrusive nature of technology and how it can violate personal space and autonomy.
- The narrative suggests that the characters we create can sometimes take on a life of their own, mirroring Jade's experience with the anonymous stalker in her own story.
- There is an underlying commentary on the psychological impact of isolation on individuals, particularly those in creative professions.
- The story implies that the line between reality and fiction can become blurred, especially under stress and sleep deprivation.

Sitting there at the computer, Jade wondered about the surprise ending she wanted to write in her last chapter of her novel.

“Should she fall in love, or keep dating,” Jade says.

“Break time,” she says.

She gets into the shower. Hoping to energize her brain for more ideas.

Feeling better after the shower, Jade grabs her snacks and heads back to her computer.

Typing.

Kayla went–

She stops typing.

“Huh,”

“Anonymous!”

“What is this?” she says.

Jade closes the window, but several appeared in its place.

Open me from anonymous in bold red flashes, she freaked.

Ran over to the outlet and yanked the cord out of the wall. After waiting 10min she turns back on her computer.

“This better had worked I have a deadline to meet, and what was that whole anonymous thing,” she says.

A sigh of relief she felt after seeing there weren’t any tabs. “Off to bed,” she says.

3:00 am

Woken up out of her sleep with notification sounds. She rushes out of her bed to the computer.

Irritated, Jade says. “What the hell is going on?” “I shut you down for the night, how’s this happening,”

“Wait a minute,”

“No, where’s my novel?”

She grabs her mouse, tries to use it.

It will not work, flashes on the screen.

“Huh”

“How did you?”

Open anonymous flashes rapidly on the screen.

“I can’t use my mouse,” she screams. She ran and grabbed her phone, pressed the number keys, and put it to her ear.

Dead air….

“Hello, hello,” she says.

A man’s voice says. “Open Anonymous.”

Jade screams and throws her phone.

She runs into her room, grabs her keys.

The lights go out.

She peeps through her blinds.

“It’s pitch dark, someone must have hit a power line,” she says.

She notices a red light reflecting off the window.

Jade’s turns around, her eyes widen after she sees the red light flashing from the other room.

Trembling with anxiety as she approaches the room with the blinking light.

She walks over to her computer, there it is on the screen, open anonymously, flashing before her eyes.

Her throat, thick and dry, she swallows while reaching out her hand for the mouse.

Clicks on the icon.

Shocked in disbelief, Jade sees pictures of her sitting at her computer working, sleeping, eating, watching TV, even undressing.

Jade then sees pictures of her in the bathroom and it disgusted her.

She paces back and forth and starts feeling sickly.

“Who could this be–who’s watching me?”

Angry, Jade looks back at the computer, notices the screen had switched, soon realizes that she’s on camera.

She turns around and looks up, sees the camera that’s watching her.

The cam zooms in.

Furious, Jade cries out. “What do you want?”

A deep raspy voice says. “I’ve been watching you for months, Jade.”

“How do you know my name, you sick bastard?”

You need to listen, if you pass the test I’ll leave you alone.

I’m not playing your fucking games.

Jade grabs her broom and knocks down the camera.

“You can’t get rid of me that quickly,” he says.

She aggressively smashes the camera into pieces

Jade leans over heavily breathing. She walks to her computer and sits down in the chair.

By the time she calms down, the screen lights up.

“I’m back.”

“You can’t get rid of me,” he says.

With a devilish laugh.

Her eyes expanded in anger.

He taunts her.

Jade, jade, jade…..JADE!!!

She screams, hollers.

“LEAVE ME ALONE.”

Jade picks up her computer forcefully throws it to the ground.

“I HATE YOU.”

She stumps on it and smashes every bit.

Humped over out of breath, Jade realizes all her life’s work ruined just gone.

She cries.

KNOCK KNOCK.

She looks up wandering who can be at her door at this hour.

Jade opens up the door.

And sees a man dressed in black with a diabolical smile.

“Hello Jade,” he says.

She wakes up screaming in cold sweats.

“It’s a dream, I'm okay.” She looks at the clock.

“Oh my God, I only have two hours, until my deadline.” She rushes out of bed.

Jade goes to the computer and trashes the love story.

She writes the title of her book.
