Announcing TAKE TWO, a Publication for Revisions & Parodies
Publication launches with contest and a CASH prize
Dear writers of poetry and short fiction,
Have you ever published a piece and later thought of another way you might have written it? (But don’t want to alter the published version.) Or have you ever published something and then immediately had your smart-ass brain come up with a sassy or funny version of it? Self-hecklers, take note.
Well, now there’s a home for your witty and alternate versions of short pieces (two minutes or less reading time).
Take Two is a new publication developed especially for sharing alternate versions of published work.
Examples of acceptable submissions:
Parodies
- A parody of a short fiction piece or poem you published on Medium (any publication or self-published)
- A parody of someone else’s short fiction or poem published on Medium (any publication or self-published) [Note: please ask permission of the author as a courtesy and tag them in your submission. Only good-natured submissions, please.]
Rewrites
- A revised version of a short fiction piece or poem you published on Medium (any publication or self-published)
- A revised version of someone else’s short fiction piece or poem published on Medium (any publication or self-published). [Again, please ask permission of the author as a courtesy and tag them in your submission.]
Launch Contest
To launch Take Two in style and to reward writers for their hard work, the editor will award her ENTIRE JULY 2020 MEDIUM EARNINGS* to the winner of the publication’s first competition. Yes, every bit of it.
Contest rules:
- Submit your entry by 11:59 p.m., ET, Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
- Follow submission guidelines, which appear here:
- Add a tag: “TT Launch Contest.”
- Criteria are wit, creativity, and overall quality, in addition to compliance with submission guidelines. The winning entry will be chosen solely by the editor and her decision will be final.
- Cash prize will be $21(US), exactly what my July earnings were. Because that’s just how committed I am to luring top-notch writers.
ALL WRITERS ARE WELCOME TO SUBMIT. And to kick things off, I invite the following writers whom I admire to submit and take a shot at that juicy jackpot. Please share this contest with anyone else who you think might enjoy participating. I apologize for any omissions.
