Andrew Tate's Racism Got Him Locked Up

And the Romanians might just as well throw away the key …

Andrew Tate, a popular, British-American kickboxer and renowned misogynistic influencer on the social media platform, Tik Tok, has been rotting in jail in Romania with his brother Tristan Tate, and two other women, for the last three weeks on human trafficking and rape charges.

Tate, a self-proclaimed playboy, and guru who boasts of being good at the art of seducing women may just be a regular, low-life, and vulgar criminal after all.

Just yesterday, nearly 4 million dollars worth of his assets including properties in Romania as well as several luxury cars, watches, and currency, were confiscated by the government to pay for the investigation and potential reparations to his victims.

Even though he vowed to get out of jail soon after he was arrested on December 29, 2022, the reality is that there is still no word of his imminent release.

I first heard about Tate when my daughter, who was 15 at the time, shared that her brother and her male schoolmates had some type of adoration for Tate. They looked up to him. I unsuspectingly went to google the chap, expecting to find a brash, outspoken coach who gave adolescent boys good advice. What I found was a woman-hater who was encouraging boys and young men to treat women like trash. I was appalled.

I listened to his videos and could hardly contain my anger. The man was constantly swearing, degrading women and girls, and asserting as though it was a fact, that women enjoyed being raped. I was livid, angry, and outraged. I asked how could he be allowed to spew such nonsense, to fill young boys’ minds with such toxicity.

In one video in particular, Tate bemoans women that live in the western world. He goes on to say that they do not take care of themselves. He talks about his love for Romania. There, the women took good care of themselves, their nails were always impeccably done.

He went on to say that he was moving to Romania because there, he could do what he wanted to do. Did you catch the overt racism right there? Yes, Tate implied that the Romanian legal system was so weak that he could get away with whatever he wanted.

I guess in his mind this involved human trafficking and rape. He was basically telling other men to head to Romania for a rollicking time that involved restraining and violating young girls.

When you take the measure of this, you realize how immoral and disgusting Tate is. He is like those men who go to Thailand, Ecuador, or Guinea to commit the vilest sexual acts on women and children because they believe the legal system will not hold them accountable.

All I can say here is:

“Well done Romania, you showed the world that your strong legal system will prosecute villains and lock them away for as long as needed”.

I’m watching to see what will happen to Tate, and his brother Tristan. Their lawyer recently said that two of the victims that accused the men of human trafficking and rape hadn’t intended to.

What I worry about, is that because there is a lot of poverty in Romania, these two victims and maybe others might prefer to settle with Tate, meaning that if he is guilty, he won’t pay for his crimes.

I come from a poor country, Sierra Leone. Most often, when I go home on holiday, I see Andrew and Tristan Tates, men who believe they can get away with anything because they’ve got the money to pay anyone off. They harass and assault poor and sometimes vulnerable women and children.

These men know that in their countries — like the US, Britain, France, and what have you, they’ll never be able to get away with sexually assaulting women and boys. They go to these poorer countries because they believe that the lives of those people in those countries matter less, that they have less value, that they can harm and violate, safe in the knowledge that they won’t ever be held accountable.

It is a disgusting and degrading form of racism that needs to be stopped.

I’m glad that Romania has shown that it will stand up for its women and children.

Thank you for reading my perspective.
