And Then She Drempt…
The skin was still thin, But she thought the gash had healed; A teary antiseptic- Sewn up with time.
Inches crawled to miles… The ground gradually smoothed. Pebbles bounced — Only in memories. The dust had finally settled, Battered down with tears. A view once full of heavy clouds, Sparkled with a quiet joy.
And then she dreamt.
She tried to stay hidden, Keep the barrier up — A glimpse through the trees, Skipping hearts in solitude.
Into a deep slumber she fell, Curled up in a flower bed. His head shook with a sigh, As he scooped her in his arms….
The pillowcase cool on her cheek, In that moment of blur before the day crept in. A tug to go further — To question the reason… A backwards clock ticked on the wall
But she knew, On that windy road — No moment would speak truth. She tried to let it float — Pollen in the wind.
Air swirled inside her… Fueled by one tiny step; Searching for sweet solace, As she began all over again.
