An Unexpected Gift That Reminds Me To Keep Writing and Dancing
My personalized pen from Ping’s Bling Pens

When I had to take care of my two older boys during their school holidays for the entire month of June, I lost momentum in writing and dancing. It was so frustrating. I lost my mojo and felt more drained than usual, making me resentful in taking care of my kids.
Luckily, a new human angel came into my life and renewed my passion for writing and dancing again. Towards the end of June, my friend Ping invited me to design a bling pen using her new website and test out the assembly of my personalized pens. She also invited me to write my pen story to describe what inspired me to create this design. My pen design and story are now proudly listed on her website, along with other beautiful pen designs and stories.
My Story of the Dancing Fairy
I smiled to myself at Ping’s gentle invitation for me to write about my inspiration for my personalized bling pen design. What a gentle way for me to start writing again!
Here’s the story that I wrote for my pen, lovingly named the Dancing Fairy:
Dance is the most sacred and freely available form of expression for me to reconnect to myself, process my life experiences, and define how I continually choose to live my life.
Dance also reminds me to balance both my ethereal and human selves. This is why I chose the pink shimmer pen and the crystal colours: yellow for hope and abundant sunshine, coral for sweet healing, and violet to represent my spiritual self.
I hope this pen reminds us all to dance with passion, literally and metaphorically.
How My Dancing Fairy Pen Has Inspired Me
I usually write electronically, but I’ve heard that writing with the good ol’ pen and paper feels much more grounding than typing. With this new bling pen, I quickly bought a cute paper journal for me to write in.
I love that whenever I see my bling pen, it reminds me to dance more often. It’s been a relief to get out of my way and keep dancing. I can be creative about how I dance and sneak in shorter dance periods while with my kids. Creating joy is important to me, and having a happier mom is important to my kids.
A Mini Interview With Ping
Ping’s new business is filled with beauty, joy, and kindness. I thought I’d include a mini interview with her, so we can all learn from her unique flavor of gentle, loving kindness. Here are just two questions I’ve asked her that she graciously replied with so much joy.
I believe pretty stationery makes a difference in brightening one’s day, so that’s what I think my pens would do. I always imagine the delight on my customers’ faces as I create or pack the order.
What led you to create this business?
I’ve always wanted an online store related to stationery (my favorite!). So when this idea came along, I took it on immediately. It’s been so fun and fulfilling — brainstorming ideas, creating products, taking photos, learning to build the Shopify store, and inviting close friends to contribute the first designs, it’s been a great ride so far!
What are your energetic intentions for yourself and your customers through this business?
Just as it does for me, I would like my store to bring joy to my customers. I believe pretty stationery makes a difference in brightening one’s day, so that’s what I think my pens would do. I always imagine the delight on my customers’ faces as I create or pack the order.
My two daughters, aged 16 and 7, are also helping me out in the business. The older girl is the creative mind behind the designs and color combinations. The younger one is the hands-on one who puts the pens together. While we enjoy working on the store together, I love that they are also learning practical business skills such as photography, product conceptualization, marketing, etc.
Closing Thoughts
I’m so grateful for Ping’s loving invitation to create this gorgeous physical reminder for me to keep dancing and writing. Her authentic business is an energetic vehicle that radiates beauty, joy, and kindness.
