An Oversized Encounter

A seasonally-spooky drabble, and prompt response

This drabble (100-word story) is a response to my own spooky prompts (idea 2) here at The Fiction Writer’s Den.

My eyes were staying covered. Try as I might, I couldn’t get my hands to move.

The bug could be coming closer, I said to myself. Idiot! Uncover your eyes and run!

But my palms were coated in superglue.

I tried to back further away, but the wall was unyielding.

Hunching down, twisting my body around, I began to let out a low, sorrowful wail. “Ah-eeee!”.

With hands, knees and forearms all contacting the ground, I scuttled into the corner of the room. It was as far as I could get. Perhaps, if I hunched small, I’d become invisible.

Readers, you can find more of my fiction and poetry here (at least the ones I remembered to add to the list) as well as articles about creativity writing and author skills right here.
