An open letter to him
With our relationship appraisal feedback
It will be your 31st birthday on May 1st and I think it would be a great time to complete our long-due relationship appraisal letter as a birthday gift..
Now before I take a plunge into another story, here’s a little bit about our ‘reel-like’ love-story.
I know you don’t acknowledge PDAs and cliche catchphrases on social media but I thought this would be a nerdiest possible way to express my feelings for you. Here’s a SWOT analysis for the last three years.
What I acknowledge in our relationship
Thank you for introducing me —
To the geeky websites like ‘xkcd’ and ‘brain-pickings’. I confess that the memes on xkcd are sometimes more than what I can handle but as you say ‘Read obscure things, feel genius all the time’. To Stephen Colbert and John Oliver late-night shows and Ricky Gervais’s satirical comedy. To Indian classical and devotional music.
What I treasure in our relationship
Thank you for giving a bundle of peculiar surprises —
A self-made canvas painting for our apartment when we desperately needed one. A customized name-plate with my name printed on our first car. And, over-night creating my website to kick-start my freelancing career.
What I appreciate in our relationship
Thank you for being multi-faceted and —
My accountability partner, mentor, validator, proofreader and patient listener of my practice Toastmaster speech sessions. Supporting me to be ‘ME’ and giving wings to my endless dreams. For developing my compassion and empathy towards others.
What are the areas of improvement and constructive feedback
I hope that you try to follow a healthy fitness regime without an excuse. I hope that you work on your cooking skills in our kitchen so that you could be promoted from sous-chef to main-chef in upcoming quarters.
Altogether, your performance has been incredible as a husband. To go an extra mile, try and work on your areas of improvement and feedback.
May you’re surrounded by the positive and humble aura you carry. And, may your silence speak louder than your words as they always do.
Your Loving wife.
