An Open Letter to Every Writer Who Earns More Than $5,000 a Month on Medium.
How in the hell do you do it? Wait, never mind — I already know.
Hi there,
To be clear — I make well over 5k a month on Medium. But I am inquiring for a friend. She wanted to know exactly how do you do it? (the whole 5k monthly income thing.) I tried outlining my routine for my friend a few weeks ago, but unfortunately, the engine on my private jet was earsplitting, so she barely caught the tail end of my explanation.
After I touched down at my winter home in Dubai, I reassured her that I would reach out to the Medium Community and send her the link to your responses. But enough about me —inquiring minds want to know: How do you, err, we manage to rake in over 5k a month from our home offices where we sit and drink bottomless cups of coffee from our posh espresso machines in baggy sweats and no bras?
Again, I’d like to reiterate that I’ve made several attempts to give my friend the breakdown of my monthly income and how I managed to get there while we were on a road trip together. But we were once again interrupted by the thunderous purr of my Bugatti on the open road.
The third time is not as charming as you think.
One evening, over champagne and caviar (my treat), I started to tell her about my viral articles and all the best-selling Amazon books I wrote. But she rolled her eyes and checked out of the conversation before I got to the good part.
That’s fine. Not everyone understands us writers.
So, how did you do it? How long did it take? Do you have any advice for my friend? Because she is living with her parents, working a lousy dead-end job, and wants to hear from someone other than me (a person she’s known all her life) how to increase her income while working remotely.
