An Online MBA You can Earn without Benefit of a Bachelor’s Degree

Life happens. For one reason or another, you may not have earned a bachelor’s degree. But not earning a bachelor’s degree may not mean that you have been idle in your life. You may be running your own business, reading extensively, or even inventing some lifechanging device. For most universities, however, when you break out of the spell and decide to further your education, they insist that you go all the way back and begin. In some cases, it may seem like sending someone who can pass a grade six entrance exam back to grade one simply because the person had not gone through the experience of sitting in a grade one classroom. This is of course not to compare a bachelor’s degree to grade one. But I hope you get the point.

Enter Heriot Watt University, a British university founded in 1821. Their philosophy is that if you can pass the examinations they administer to their master’s degree students, whether you have a bachelor’s degree or not does not matter. You are entitled to the same degree.

The program has gone through several iterations and gotten better with feedback from students around the world. Among the mandatory courses are the following:

If you are not a degree holder, “formal entry can still be gained by passing three MBA courses one of which must be a core course” (Heriot Watt University https:hw.ac.uk).

But you may well ask, “Is Heriot Watt University recognized?” If a school that has been around since 1821 isn’t recognized, there would be something very wrong with it. The school, as with other UK universities, “hold an accreditation by virtue of degree-awarding powers through a Royal Charter or an Act of Parliament.”

If that doesn’t satisfy you, take it from me. I earned a Heriot-Watt MBA without benefit of a bachelor’s degree, and I have not been out of the workforce since.
