He knew how to get their attention

George was an older gentleman who was going to bed one night. As he was about to retire, his wife told him that there was a light on in the shed in the backyard. She could see it from the upstairs window.

When George went downstairs to turn out the light and was about to go out the back door, he saw that there were people in the shed. They were obviously stealing things. He decided that he should call the police.

He phoned 911 and told the police that there were people in his backyard stealing things. The dispatcher asked, “Is someone in your house?”

He answered “No, but some people are breaking into my shed and stealing things.”

The police dispatcher told George that all the patrols were busy. He said to stay in the house and be sure the doors were locked. He told George that an officer would be along later when they were available.

George said “Okay” and hung up the phone. He counted to thirty and then phoned the police again. He said, “Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don’t have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both.” He hung up the phone.

Within five minutes, there were several police cars, a SWAT team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, paramedics, and an ambulance which showed up at George’s house. The burglars were still there and were caught red handed.

One of the policemen seemed annoyed as he said to George, “I thought you said that you shot them!”

George replied to him, “I thought you said nobody was available to come.”

The moral of this story is: “Don’t mess with old people.”

Senior citizens may still have keen minds and be able to think fast on their feet. They can surprise you.
