An Ode to Thee To Be With Me

You know You’ll never catch the sun if you’re chasing from the earth.
Where the breeze is so enticing; An escape adorned with mirth.
Sapphire blue and emerald, how green the grass does seem.
Deny yourself the whispers of your body and your soul,
Deny yourself the happiness that your turmoil will unroll,
Seek solace in the things that would distract from all that’s real,
Run, reach for the wrong stars,
Your gaze I’ve longed to steal,
And trace my tongue upon the smile of scars
Your heart has yearned to heal.
I would speak to you of pain
If you asked me of my past.
What darks embrace your heart,
I know not of what you mast.
But understand that things that glitter
are not always made of gold,
And that love’s not for the lucky
But for the bravest and the bold.
Come take my hand and see,
That forward we could march and be the best of you and me.
I dare you to be free
And come walk this world with me.
