An Ode to My Stretch Marks
gently embracing every inch of my skin
Au naturel, In front of the mirror, they stand out bright, amateur painter’s perfection on my thigh, subtle, suave and natural as nature, hugging my body, catching every eye.
Once concealed with long a-line dresses, denims and culottes, now breathe free, exposed bold not partial but whole for deliberately dissenting eyes to see.
Portrays the history of angst, of changes, of acceptance and embracing the growth from a shy, silent and self conscious teen to adulting boldly and thrashing self loath.
Au naturel, In front of the mirror, they stand out bright, You call them stretch marks, I call them tiger stripes.
