UNREQUITED WORDS PRESENTS
An Ode to my Friend
A description of my feelings in the relation
I wonder how you were the only person in whose presence I never tensed.
They were all quick to judge, but not you. You still gave me that respect I never thought I deserved.
You made me feel that I had an exclusive identity. You made me feel wanted.
I’ll never know why you left from my life, But I know why you entered it. I know that everything happens for a reason.
Maybe you were there to make me braver, or to make me happier, Or just to show me what having a friend felt like.
You were always in the big leagues. You were way out of my league. You were always aspirational.
Yet, You made time for me.
And in the few minutes you spent with me, I would feel that I actually count.
You had your own insecurities. You came with your own ego. You had your own bunch of demons within you.
You looked like you were one amongst us, One just like me.
I Didn’t know if you’d come down to others’ stature, Or would take us to your heights.
I never knew what is it that I felt for you. Was it love, was it adoration. Or was it a bond of kinship.
I did use to dream that one day you’d see me as an equal. That one day you’d introduce me to your friends.
Those very friends who’d care about your coolness and talent, But who don’t care about you.
But then, I guess, things happen for a reason. Aspirations are generally one sided.
Still, I’ll always love you. I’ll always be there for you.
Your acquaintance was my greatest honour.
Love, Your friend.
Thanks for dropping by.
