An Invisible Contract With My Soul Leads Me on Paths to Map Out My Goals
“I can control my destiny but not my fate.” — Paul Coelho.

The quote continues,
“Destiny means there are opportunities to turn right or left, but fate is a one-way street. I believe we all have the choice as to whether we fulfil our destiny, but our fate is sealed.”
My soul entered this body To evolve and grow, And fully experience all I can be.
Is that destiny?
Yes!
Life is a mystery I’m here to unravel, No judge with a gavel Will hammer for silence In this court of unforeseen verdicts.
If I knew the final outcome When I set out on this journey, What a boring ride it would be!
The joy of exploring uncharted Lands is immeasurable As I travel this way and that Seeking re-connection with My soul — My goal.
By so doing my map expands With many paths drawn, One up and down hills which ends in Deep valleys with no exit, forcing me To retrace my steps, seek another way Which may demand I climb a Steep mountain, and From its peak, behold Vast ranges in the distance.
I could sit and say, No more searching, Stop. Do nothing. That would be my fate — To no longer consciously grow and evolve, Allow others to dictate my future trajectory — Tragedy!
I shall not sleep, Will fill this map With many miles of exploration, Prod and probe.
For this is life’s assignment, A contract signed with my soul, A mission statement Forgotten when I was born, A secret for me to unravel Through my travels Of growing, learning and Taking chances.
As I broaden my horizons with Goals and ambitions, Battles lost and won, My map multiplies into many As I move beyond Comfort zones and limiting beliefs.
At my life’s end I’ll flip through the atlas And pinpoint the places where I overcame challenges, Turn the pages to point out Aha moments over here, A change of direction over there.
Then I shall say, Well done, dear friend.
I dedicate the following song to the 73 men, women and children who died, and the 53 injured in a fire in a building in the Johannesburg CBD last night.
May my prayers reach all those whose lives have been touched by this avoidable tragedy, and fill their hearts with comfort, love and peace in this time of grieving.
This event is an example of the difference between fate and destiny on a larger scale.
Fate: The city authorities knew for years that such buildings, hi-jacked by criminals and rented to the destitute, were death traps, but did nothing to address the issue.
Destiny: If action had been taken sooner to clear these buildings and supply adequate housing, this disaster would never have occurred.
