My vulnerability left open wounds unhealed and prevented my fragile skin from scarring. At least then, the world could not see the permanence of my pain. The mark on my elbow began the story of when my life was ignited by war and more battle wounds would be had. My scars are a reminder of my past while motivating me towards an exposed and full future.

Along with grief brings wisdom and clarity. Heartache may linger but she had accepted her past while having awareness of life’s continued turbulence.
