An Indulgence
Sometimes it’s necessary
It has been uncharacteristically cold here in my normally mild neck of the woods. 13 degrees overnight with a stiff wind to boot. We left the faucets dripping in the bathrooms but forgot to do so in the kitchen last night. Thankfully the pipes froze but didn’t burst. Once the temps rose above freezing, we were back in business. YaY!🎉
This bitter cold made me think of warmer days, strolls on the beach, and sunshine on my shoulders. I have no complaint about the cold, per se, but I found myself dreaming of a tropical oasis with warm breezes in tow.
That led me to musing about my visits to the rainforest or a Caribbean isle. All the lush greenery, pungent with life, vibrant color, and sweet fragrances. It’d be so nice to be there right now, I thought.
Like many, I love a beautiful bouquet of roses. Tiger lilies and irises are in a tie to be my favorite flower, but there is another flower that warms my heart and brightens my day whenever I see it. It is certainly not one of the “elite” flowers in the world, but it always does wonders for my heart and spirit.
So, because it was so cold, and just because I deserve it, it got myself a small bouquet of Alstromeria. They fit so nicely in my room and in my spirit. I’ve been smiling since I put them in the small makeshift vase.
And they have been smiling right back at me.
It’s the little things…
