Abstract

In the evocative piece "An Extended Day And Night To Live For," Suntonu Bhadra contemplates the preciousness of time through a hypothetical final day on Earth. Bhadra imagines a day where time slows down, allowing him to fulfill broad wishes and live with the speed of a hummingbird. He envisions himself exploring historical sites like the Nile and the pyramids, embracing the majesty of the Himalayas, strolling through the streets of Paris, and experiencing the vibrant cultures of the Amazon, Antarctica, and the Sahara. The narrative weaves through personal desires, cultural appreciations, and the profound connection with nature, culminating in the acceptance of life's transient nature and the wish to become stardust at the end of time.

An Extended Day And Night To Live For

If I only had one more day I would…..

Image: by TeeFarm from Pixabay. My interpretation of the image: The image is showing a bird is living the flock. In another way, it might be leaving the belonging to the group you belong to and going to a different path of the light. When a person leaves the notion of life, doesn’t it looks like this, leaving everything you are belonged to! Mystery, it is!

this best teacher kills its learners- time, and we the students, come in shift from one period to another in diverse shapes and forms voracious, vegetarians, Slitherine or coral our steps counted, and abolish in the universal clock, eventually, that will stop too, making it irrelevant, void for infinity.

what to do, what to care, whom to go, what to spare lists are long wishes are broad but, the longer the list, the least of it to come true.

That one day and night I will entail the hummingbird speed time will run slow, relative to others broad wishes will be attainable I wish.

I’ll be floating and boating on the Nile while the morning ray shades onto the pyramids reflecting glance of the sun-gods blessing from the past to the present to embrace the future me and the lost scribes of the pharaoh’s will laugh to indicate, all comes to an end.

Being frightened, I will embrace the Himalayan peaks the fearsome heights and the nerve-wracking views, nature showcasing the tectonic sculpture, visible for millions of years before me caring the winds, creating clouds to rain below ice-top covered, the glacier will slide to catch me and I will run again.

this time, I will walk on the streets of Paris in an aristocratic passion observing fashions of unknowns glimpsing to the mystery the heritage that drives the world crazy ‘Pari,’ the magnificent, I will walk on the Rue De L’abreuvoir explore the vastness of Champs Elysées Avenue and drink to tribute your beauty on the cobbled lane of Le Marais while reciting Baudelaire’s poetic flows. Ah!

humming the tune of Pari I will clasp my Bay of Bengal on the coral beaches of Saint Martin’s Island and on the largest unbroken sandy beach of Cox's Bazar, blue water, touching corals waves merging me whole, playing with the sea will end and I will lay down under a coconut tree while sipping its blessings cheers in nature’s drink and the sea breeze will calm the fear of the dark and I will sleep for a bit.

Once I open my eyes The magnificent giant trees of Amazon Forest will call my name so small, yet I will emerge as a part of nature the sheer green, the amazon flow on the giant rainforest field the Jesus lizard and the pink dolphin will make me wonder — the wilderness, I, be lost amongst.

Antarctica will pull me close in its icy-body and hard characteristics showcasing the hardness of nature, yet beautiful and thriving tackling the hardness of life and yet, penguins to surround me with their gentle tenders and sing the Antarctican song of living seals will keep staring at me, curious beings looking at those curious eyes, and the vast snow white I’ll glide again

this time, to the world’s largest hot desert of Sahara sandiness clasping the yellow-brownish sand of vastness the dunes, salt flats, gravel plains, plateaus covering the once so-green arena into its shade cruel, yet presenting a diverse avatar creatures too, fennec fox view, the hissing of nearby sand-vipers teaching me the hard-life of the Bedouins of the soil

My journey, fast-forwarding, to experience the rocky mountains and prairies, African wildlife, the Aurora Borealis, in between taste of sushi, red wine at hand, a dish of Hilsa, Daal, and Rice, with Bengal sweets delight in dessert extravaganza, clasping all the moments with family and close friends, they will enjoy those too.

While the remaining last seconds tick-tock, The light-force will slowly embrace me my hummingbird speed will gradually fade my senses will ask, ‘what’s the last thing you want to concur except death?’ and I wish to say,

‘Stardust is all we are going to be, let me remain as part of a star shading light till the end of time’,

As once the time continuity stops universe ends the last atoms scattered off, both (me and time) will perish with the last moment of my star-dusted smile.
