An Emoji Extravaganza

Tip of the Day — A shortcut to heaven

Of course for the purists, emojis are probably seen as a stylistic faux pas, best saved for teenagers and social media. They may have a point, and certainly writers like George Orwell or Ernest Hemingway would probably have strongly disapproved, but equally writing should be fun, both for the reader and the writer.

Appropriately used, emojis are part of that enjoyment. Who but a grouch, doesn’t enjoy seeing a random unicorn trotting across the page, or a rainbow to brighten their day?!

So if you are with me on this, there is a great way to have an instant shortcut to emoji heaven. Just use the Windows key and full-stop(period, for my US friends) key, and lo and behold, a universe of emojis opens before you! For users of Apple devices, I understand that the same result is achieved if you press Control+Command+Space. Just don’t get too carried away, or your page may look like an explosion in a fun factory.
