Summary

An author recounts an early morning trip to capture the beauty of Port Darlington West Beach, despite a technical oversight that resulted in lower-resolution footage.

Abstract

The author, a photographer, embarked on an early morning drive to Port Darlington Beaches, located approximately 80 km east of Toronto, to capture aerial drone footage of the serene West Beach. Despite forgetting to set the drone to record in 4k resolution, the morning's solitude and the opportunity to interact with a local resident made the trip enjoyable. The author shares the resulting "okay" quality images and a collage of drone videos, inviting readers to experience the tranquility of the beach and the glow of sunrise through a YouTube video link.

An Early Morning Drive to Capture a Beautiful Morning in Port Darlington West Beach

Apart from the unfortunate goof I made, I had good times there

Located around 80 km east of Toronto, Port Darlington Beaches (East and West) are hidden gems in the Durham region of Ontario.

I previously went there to capture lake waves during the wintertime, which was amazing because I had never seen the combination of a snow-covered beach and splashing waves on it simultaneously.

Other remarkable landmarks near the beach include Port Darlington East Beach Park, Bowmanville harbor, and the Bowmanville Harbour conservation area. Other nearby towns are Bowmanville, Newcastle, and Clarington.

The east side of Port Darlington beach is mostly a sandy beach, whereas the west side is a mixture of sand and rocky terrains.

The last Saturday, I took my gear and drove to the beach to take some drone footage of this beautiful beach. I reached there at 5:41 am, just before the sun started hovering on the horizon.

The best part was that there was no crowd on the beach that morning (apart from two teenagers). So I (almost) had the whole beach by myself, and I took the liberty of capturing some aerial footage.

After some time, a senior gentleman came for a walk on the beach. He asked how the drone shots were coming and whether I was enjoying the beach!

I was undoubtedly enjoying the time!

Unfortunately, I forgot to update the drone’s appropriate settings, resulting in 1080p HD resolution capture (rather than the higher 4k resolution).

Nevertheless, it was a beautiful morning, and although the images were not the ones I expected, they came out ‘okay’ to share.

I also created a collage of the drone videos, which you can explore in the following YouTube video.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the reading. Enjoy the rest of the day with the sunrise glow!
