An Amazing $1.55 after Only 1 Week in Medium’s Partner Program

This Program Is for the Birds, and I Love It!

My first week in the Medium Partner Program brought an amazing $1.55 in earnings because people actually read my stories! That may not seem like much to you, but to me, it is huge! Why? Because when those funds arrive I’m using them for the birds — my chickens.

Chickens don’t understand money, but they do understand food. That $1.55 means a whole big bunch of kale and a pound of carrots for my chickens. They love their fresh veggies.

And all the while, I’ve been learning to write better while reading some of the best writers anywhere!

The Medium Partner Program Really Is For The Birds

That’s how I’m using it anyway. Think about it. My chickens do adorable and awesome things. I write stories about them. People read those stories. I get paid. I use my earnings to buy food for my chickens. They are happy. They do adorable and awesome things for me to write more stories about. It’s a wonderful never-ending cycle!

Would anyone even bother to read any of my stories here on Medium if each one didn’t include at least something about chickens, even if it’s just the mention of “chicken” once in a story? I think not. Seriously.

Some chickens may be sitting on clutches of eggs up in their coop, but I’m sitting on a goldmine right here on Medium!

“PeeP!” is right, little one.

But What Else Can $1.55 Purchase?

If I know my chickens as well as I think I do, they will want me to use part of these earnings to also buy some birdseed for the songbirds that visit our backyard. They will want me to do it right away because chickens don’t understand waiting until next month for something called an electronic deposit that they can’t even see.

I can imagine the conversation we will have.

Once their initial excitement is over, Gracie will tell me, “The songbirds don’t have anyone to look after them the way we chickens do. And after all, Christmas is almost here.”

And the others will nod in agreement.

I will go to The Feed and Seed Store and look for the best bag of mixed bird seed they have because Bessie will have already told me, “Be sure to get the mixed kind. Not everyone likes the same thing.”

I will bring the bird seed home and scatter around a nice handful or two.

Then my chickens and I will sit together under the camellias and watch as their friends come to enjoy a grand feast.

Once their guests have finished, my chickens will clean up whatever is left.

$1.55 can purchase a bountiful life — if you spend it wisely.

And that is what we have. A bountiful life. It’s all in having the right perspective.
