Always Do Your Best. What You Plant Now Will Harvest Later
What are you doing to plant the seed now?
This was the quote on the wall at Baker Family Chiropractic Center — Walnut Creek this morning. It hit home for me. It made me think about networking.
I first learned about networking when I was in my 20s and looking for database work. After getting my masters degree, I became an integral board member of the Northern California Oracle Users Group (NoCOUG). Not only was I networking with local colleagues, but I was responsible for bringing in key figures in our field to speak at our conferences. The connections I made through that role, built a foundation for the years to come.
Networking and building a team of like-minded knowledgeable helpful individuals has been a critical step with each successive career change I have made. From IT to Organizing to Retail and Cosmetology, I have started each journey building those connections.
Today’s quote hit home for me because it is true to how I interact with others. I love to connect people together, point friends to helpful resources, and share the knowledge I have gained. Building connections with like-minded people will strengthen my own well-being.
Yesterday, I had an opportunity to spend an hour on the phone with a random person I met online that owns a salon and is looking for ways to bring in more traffic. I shared my experience and helped her understand some marketing options and the associated time and costs involved. I didn’t have to make that call, but I felt she would benefit from it. In so doing, I believe I also did.
For me it is networking and helping others, what are you doing to plant the seed now either ?
