Along This Foggy Path to Early Spring

Sunday sonnet

The vernal equinox is almost here. through budding branches watching the worm moon with maple’s sugar flowing downward. Hear those crows caw. Ploughs will work the soil and soon.

Just days ago the trees were full of snow. The earth and pond were mostly frozen still. Look closely watching for some green to grow and now grey tree frog’s trilling chorus will

climb bark in this surrounding forest. Call so loud it hurts the ears and here they come while moonlight reaches down so bright they crawl up from the muck, that place we all come from.

Another foggy path to early spring and soon we’ll see what nature’s sure to bring.
