Alone On Valentine’s Day? Read This!
I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, and I don’t celebrate it.
Let’s all take a step back and consider what Valentine’s Day really does for us. Is this a day of joy or sadness? Is it here to improve our lives or to make us stressed and miserable?
Look around you on Valentine’s Day. Restaurants are fully booked, everything else is likely sold out, clubs are crowded, and shops want to sell you more stuff and chocolate that you both don’t need. So much busy and buzzing energy.
Singles often feel depressed, while couples might feel pressured to have something organized, or maybe even worse — one of the partners forgot while the other has high hopes for Valentine’s Day surprises. Emotions tend to run higher on these days.
Who benefits from this day really?
Everybody seems more tense when viewed from the emotional, personal side.
On the other hand, of course, we have Valentine’s Day marketing: Valentine’s flowers, Valentine’s perfumes, Valentine’s jewellery, Valentine’s gift cards, Valentine’s chocolate, and Valentine’s clothes.
I asked Bard (Google AI) how much they make each year, and while there is not one specific number (it is more of an estimation), it is breathtakingly high. The National Retail Federation (NRF) in the US predicts about USD 25.9 billion this year. Other estimations are around $30+ billion worldwide. People spend a lot of energy and money on and for this day.
Do we really need all these things? Shouldn’t we spend quality time together every day?
In case you cannot celebrate with loved ones today, I want you to know that you are not alone! You are loved! You are on the right path, and you will succeed.
Never give up. Go for your dreams! Anything is possible! You have the power!
Who needs Valentine’s Day if you can create your own fairy tale with your parameters?
Feel loved, feel hugged.
