Alleged Scammers Sell Stolen Superman Game on Steam

Gaming News

Earlier this year, I came across a Superman-style flight experience demo on TikTok. A developer by the name of Tyson Butler-Boschma created this demo within Unreal Engine 5 to show off its capabilities.

Unfortunately, recently the demo was uploaded and sold on Steam without Boschma’s permission. Boschma stated that the scammers sold his demo on Steam at prices ranging from $10 to $50.

Even though Boschma filed a DMCA takedown, for some reason, Valve didn’t respond to the matter too quickly. Luckily the demo was taken down after Boschma spoke with Insider Gaming about this issue.

Interestingly these scammers stated that Boschma used to work for their company and was attempting to “keep everything for himself.” Boschma denied these claims and stated that he just wanted his work to remain free.

The scammers even harassed him with their own DMCA takedowns of his YouTube channel. Out of fear of additional grief, Boschma didn't feel comfortable providing his personal information to YouTube.

Now that the demo has finally been removed from Steam, hopefully, this dispute is behind us. If you would like to check out this UE5 demo by Tyson Butler-Boschma, click here.

From the screenshots and short clips I’ve seen, the demo looks very interesting, and I am thinking of giving it a go in my free time.
