All your life a sideshow
A poem about misplaced trust
Narrow chances and circumstance In combination have revealed to you That you have seen nothing.
Conversations in retrospect Cold interpretation of motives, In the absence of eyes You see for the first time, You have known no one.
Too late you come to realise A common aspect, The many who have come and gone Touching the fabric of your life, Are memorable For what they have left you without.
All your life a sideshow Engaged, You have never known. Behind another curtain The same fabric is unwoven.
